European Union Allocates 30 Million Euros To Support Belarusian People

The total amount from 2020 will be 170 million euros.

The European Union has allocated another 30 million euros to support the Belarusian people. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Marta Kos at the opening of a high-level conference in the European Parliament, writes Zerkalo. The European official also spoke about how much money was allocated to civil society in Belarus starting in 2020.

“Today, I am pleased to announce a new aid package for the people of Belarus in the amount of 30 million euros. It will help support independent voices, protect human rights defenders and provide assistance to culture and education in exile,” Kos said. “Thus, the total amount of our support from 2020 will be 170 million euros. This is a concrete expression of our solidarity. It helped provide legal and medical support to more than three thousand victims of repression, scholarships were received by more than three thousand students, and we also supported thousands of Belarusian businesses in exile.”
