US To Provide Ukraine With Four Economic Aid Packages

Their total cost is hundreds of millions of dollars.

The United States will provide Ukraine with at least four economic aid packages. Their total value is hundreds of millions of dollars.

This was announced by US Under Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, Ukrinform

While speaking at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Verma announced each of the four packages.

‘The Biden administration recognises that agriculture has been and will remain a pillar of the Ukrainian economy,’ Verma said.

Specifically, the United States will provide an additional $74.7 million to support export-oriented agriculture so that Ukrainian farmers and processors can more actively participate in the country's economic recovery.

In addition, the United States will provide more than $223 million ‘to rebuild transport, infrastructure and logistics.’ According to a State Department spokesperson, this is needed to make sure that ports, railways and other communications work in Ukraine.

At the same time, the U.S. will send $35 million to the Ukraine Recovery Trust Fund to support the creation of the Ukrainian government's internal project preparation fund, which was developed jointly with the World Bank. As Verma noted, these measures are aimed at ensuring a more effective reconstruction process through public-private co-operation.

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State also announced the provision of more than $105 million for the training and education of Ukrainians who will be attracted to the new jobs created as part of the recovery and manufacturing process.
