The western regions of Ukraine have been subjected to the largest attack by the Russian army since the beginning of the full-scale war. This was reported on Friday, December 13, by DW, citing local authorities.

Strike on Western Ukraine

“This morning, the Carpathian region was subjected to the largest attack since the full-scale war. At dawn, the enemy used attack drones and cruise missiles. Critical infrastructure facilities appeared in their sights,” Svitlana Onyshchuk, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional military administration, reported on Telegram. According to her, there were no casualties, but some of the missiles reached their targets.

“The enemy attacked energy facilities in our region! Fortunately, as of this minute, there is no information about casualties,” said Maksym Kozytsky, head of the Lviv regional military administration. He noted that due to the shelling, there would be changes in the power outage schedules in the region. The heads of the military administrations of the Kirovohrad and Ternopil regions of Ukraine also reported the shelling.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that this is the 12th massive attack on civilian energy infrastructure facilities in the country this year. Additional restrictions on energy supply have been introduced today. The energy holding DTEK reported that thermal power plants were attacked, and equipment was seriously damaged. The region was not specified.
