The doctor-surgeon has fully admitted his guilt.
The prosecutor's office of Kirauski district supported in court the state prosecution in the criminal case against a 35-year-old doctor-surgeon, who is accused of improper performance of professional duties, resulting in the death of a patient. Details of the case were reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Mahiliou region.
In July 2022, a 35-year-old surgeon performed surgery to remove a painfully altered gallbladder (cholecystectomy) on a 58-year-old woman and negligently damaged the extrahepatic bile ducts.
As a result, the woman suffered serious bodily injuries, which led to unfortunate consequences.
Within a month, the doctors performed two more operations on her abdominal organs to diagnose and repair the damage to the extrahepatic part of the bile ducts. Despite the measures taken, the woman died in hospital due to acute heart failure.
During the court hearing, the surgeon fully admitted his guilt.
The court of Kirauski district sentenced the man to restriction of freedom without sending him to an open-type correctional institution for a period of 1 year with a fine of 100 basic units (Br4 thousand) on the basis of part 1 of article 162 of the Criminal Code.
The sentence did not come into legal force, as it was appealed by the accused.
