Ukraine Severes Secure Telephone Line With Moscow

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has terminated the direct secure telephone line between Kyiv and Moscow. It has been in place since 1998.

This was written in Telegram by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.

It is important to note that the Verkhovna Rada website contains Resolution #156 “On the conclusion of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the organization of a direct secure telephone line between Kyiv and Moscow” dated February 16, 1998.

“The Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the organization of a direct secure telephone line between Kyiv and Moscow, concluded in Moscow on 27.02.1998, has been terminated,” Melnychuk wrote.
