Media: Ukrainian Armed Forces Found Way To Confuse Russia And Protect F-16s

A French general drew attention to the trick.

Ukrainian F-16 fighter pilots do not use airbase runways because the location of these facilities is well known to Russia.

Takeoffs and landings occur on sections of roads or highways, reports the French TV channel LCI.

According to journalists, the Ukrainian military has prepared several sections of roads that are usually used by cars and trucks. On such roads, the central dividers have been dismantled and the asphalt has been replaced.

The use of highways is aimed at reducing the risk of fighters being hit by enemy fire, since Russia knows the location of air bases in Ukraine.

French General Michel Yakovleff notes that the Ukrainian method of using combat aircraft has been used before in other countries.

At the same time, the general believes that takeoffs from highways are more risky than from runways designed and marked to receive aircraft.
