The Kremlin does not take into account the collateral damage.
The Kursk operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated that the Russian army is destroying its settlements with carpet bombing and does not take into account the attendant losses. Ukrainian military expert Vladyslav Seleznev told FREEDOM about this.
He drew attention to the fact that the reports of the official speakers of the Ukrainian army regarding the operation in the Kursk region are extremely sparse, and the information of Russian officials and propagandists is contradictory.
"Of course, there are quite fierce clashes there. The forces and means of the Ukrainian army is already drawing a huge amount of enemy resources. And now we record the following fact: the Russian army, the Russian aviation, first of all, systematically and methodically destroys its settlements. Destroys with carpet bombing.
Russian artillery joined this mission, conducting carpet bombing and artillery strikes on settlements where citizens of the Russian Federation are still living. What does it mean? The Russians absolutely do not pay attention to the so-called collateral damage," Seleznev said.
He stressed that in fact the Russian Federation recognised its own inability to qualitatively organize civil defence.
"As for the prospect of a Russian-Ukrainian confrontation in the territory of the Kursk region, here, as for me, the answer is obvious — everything will depend on resources. When the Russians can stretch a sufficient number of forces and means in order to block the expansion of the Ukrainian bridgehead in the territory of the Kursk region and be able to organize effective counteroffensive actions?..", the military expert said.
Seleznev considers the Kursk operation a component of the actions of the Ukrainian army within the framework of strategic defence.
"And even if we have to conduct maneuver defence there, in any case, the losses of the Russian army will be of a catastrophic format and level," he predicts.
