“Colonels” are not needed.
Former “DPR Defense Minister” Igor Girkin (Strelkov), who was sentenced in Russia to four years in prison for calling for extremism, was twice denied sending from the penal colony to war in Ukraine.
“Quite a few people here have “delighted” me with messages that the Internet is reporting that I allegedly “signed a contract” for war. Refute this officially: please report that I contacted the military registration and enlistment office representatives who visit the penal colony, but was twice refused even to accept my application. Once — with the reasoning like “we don't need colonels” — they didn't even mention the article as a reason for the refusal. So far, nothing has changed in this regard,” Girkin's wife Miroslava Reginskaya quotes his letter.
Earlier, the pro-Kremlin Telegram channel SHOT wrote that Girkin was leaving the colony and going to war with Ukraine. At that time, it was reported that the lawyers of the “former DPR Defense Minister” managed to obtain the corresponding permission from all relevant agencies, and as a result, his imprisonment was replaced with military service.
“In fact, this issue has already been resolved, only a number of formalities remain,” SHOT wrote on September 6.
On the same day, his wife denied this information:
“The information that Igor Strelkov is leaving the colony and going to participate in the special military operation is not true and is fake. Neither Igor Ivanovich's lawyers nor his family possess such information.”
