Zelensky Signed Law On Increasing Defense Spending In Ukraine

The sum in question is almost 500 billion hryvnias.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on increasing the 2024 budget expenditures on defense. We are talking about 495.3 billion hryvnias.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with a reference to the website of the Verkhovna Rada, and Telegram account of MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

“The President signed law #11417 on increasing the budget this year by 500 billion hryvnias for military needs,” Zheleznyak wrote.

According to him, a new record for spending for Ukraine has been set — 3.73 trillion hryvnias, which is 2.3 times more than the budget before the start of a full-scale war.

The signing of the law is also evidenced by the document card posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on September 20.

According to information on the parliament's website, the law, adopted by 298 votes of parliamentarians on September 18, was submitted to the president for signing on September 20, after it was signed by head of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk on the same day.
