He knows both generals personally.
An officer of the artillery reconnaissance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Arty Green [real name Yevhen Bekrenev - Ed.] in an interview with the famous journalist Yevheny Kiselev told how the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny differs from the current Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky. Thus, he called one "a patriot of Ukraine", and the other - "a patriot of his career". At the same time, Arty Green emphasized that he knows both generals personally and well enough to form his opinion confidently.
"In terms of quality, they are about the same level, in terms of knowledge. Zaluzhny has this feature - he is a silver dollar, everyone likes him, a real bunny. He is peculiar, but a leader. And he is sincere. Do you know what? He is a Ukrainian officer. He went to serve in the Ukrainian army while still a cadet. He has a destiny of patriotic motivation. He has served Ukraine all his life and is ready to die for Ukraine. This is the only officer of such a high level that I have seen in a place where even battalion commanders rarely go. He is a patriot. But if he is given a bad order, Zaluzhny will not do it. He will get sick and disappear from communications. He will not dirty his hands with a dirty business. He will not tolerate corruption,” explained Arty Green.
Syrsky, according to the officer, will carry out any order.
“Syrsky is a samurai, he is a patriot not of Ukraine, but of his career. But he is not a traitor. Proof of this are the Kharkiv and Kursk operations, which were unexpected for the Russians. Syrsky is not very popular, he keeps his distance, a big boss. He never listens to anyone, tells everyone what to do. You have to make him listen. He is a hard man. Zaluzhny is simpler in this regard, that is why he was popular. Syrsky is serious. If he comes somewhere to present medals, he will stand there in a bulletproof vest hung with magazines, as if he is about to go on the attack,” the officer said.
