Sikorski Announces Negotiations On Belarusian Political Prisoners Issue With The US

The Polish Foreign Minister held important meetings.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that during his visit to the US, he held important meetings with American officials regarding political prisoners in Belarus, including Andrzej Poczobut.
On Friday, Sikorski completed his visit to the US, which included participation in the annual session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York.
According to Sikorski, he met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
"There was also a meeting at the State Department with the US representative for hostages and political prisoners. This is very important regarding the imprisoned Belarusian opposition activist, including Andrzej Poczobut," he said on X.

Recall that in February 2023, political prisoner journalist Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to 8 years in a maximum security prison. The trial was held behind closed doors. The Supreme Court upheld the sentence. Recall that on July 31, Andrzej Poczobut officially became an honorary citizen of Warsaw.
