The Russians were unable to recapture even one square kilometer of their territory.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region of Russia proves that Ukraine, when it has the means, is quite capable of overthrowing the Russian army. This opinion was expressed by French military expert Xavier Titelman in an interview with Ukrinform.
“After more than a month, the Russian army is not capable of recapturing even one square kilometer of territory that the Ukrainians were able to take, despite the fact that it sent tens of thousands of people there. So, we have a situation where the Ukrainians significantly outnumber the Russians,” he said.
He also believes that the Kursk operation proved that the Russians did not have any reserve troops: “Russia really does not have a strategic reserve, it does not have forces capable of preventing an invasion of its territory.”
Titelman added that the Russians are forced to withdraw some forces from other parts of the front.
“I am talking to the “French people” working on the ground, for example, at the southern points of the front. Some say that they have never had it as quiet as now. Now the Russians have to structurally strengthen their borders to avoid future possible Ukrainian invasions. They have to mobilize tens of thousands of men,” the expert noted.
In addition, Titelman expressed confidence that the Kursk operation strengthened Ukraine's negotiating positions.
“The political dimension is now the main thing. The Americans must allow Ukraine to bomb Russian territory, to use weapons that are effective in winning the war,” he believes.
