Ukraine's president has proposed an exchange.
On Sunday, 12 January, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to hand over soldiers of his army to DPRK dictator Kim Jong-un if he can organise their exchange for Ukrainian soldiers held captive by the Russian Federation.
He added that there will be other options for those soldiers from North Korea who do not want to return.
‘In particular, those from Korea who will express a desire to bring peace closer through spreading the truth in Korean about this war will have such an opportunity,’ Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president added that it is now only a matter of time before ‘Ukrainian military succeed in capturing more [DPRK army soldiers].’
‘Apart from the first captured North Korean soldiers, there will undoubtedly be others... And no one in the world should be left in doubt that the Russian army depends on DPRK military aid,’ he added.
