Tomahawk Mission

The U.S. is sending a message to Russian elites.

I'm not going to evaluate the Tomahawks in terms of combat effectiveness.

First, let the technical experts do that.

Second, it doesn't really matter. The mission of the Tomahawks is to once again make Putin realize that he is not going to win the war. Against the backdrop of Russia's deepening economic crisis and the final depletion of Soviet stockpiles, providing such weapons to Ukraine is a clear signal that Putin doesn't stand a chance.

The Russians howled about the Tomahawks not because they are very afraid of these weapons. It's because with this move, Trump is effectively destroying their intentions to get a favorable deal with him.

The Tomahawks are much more than anything Biden gave, and once you cross that line, it will be difficult to negotiate with Trump from a position of strength. The position of strength will now be Trump's. The occupiers realize this and are hysterical.

But the Tomahawks have another side effect - it is a signal to Russian elites that the chance to negotiate is all but lost. Perhaps this will lead to the appearance of Colonel Stauffenberg in Russia, only with a more successful outcome.
