Political Prisoner Olena Lazarchyk Was Sent To A Punishment Center.

The activist of the civil campaign "European Belarus," Elena Lazarchik, sentenced to 9.5 years in prison, has been sent to the punitive isolation center (punishment cell), according to "Radio Svaboda" with reference to their sources.

It's unknown why and for how long Yelena was sent to the punishment cell. Previously, she had been placed several times in a punitive isolation cell.

According to the source of Svaboda, Elena has lost weight in detention and her health is deteriorating. Her lawyer is not allowed to see her.

Yelena Lazarchik is 51 years old, an activist of "European Belarus", widow of the activist and defender of Kuropat Sergei Matskoitya (he died in 2023).

In September 2022, Yelena was sentenced to 8 years in prison, she was charged under articles on insulting Lukashenko (Article 368 of the Criminal Code), creation of an "extremist formation" or participation in it (Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code), incitement of hostility (Article 130 of the Criminal Code) and gross violation of order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code). Later, she was added another year and a half in a colony under the article on disobedience to the colony administration (Article 411 of the Criminal Code). Since then, Yelena has been in the penal colony in Zarechye-24, a colony where women who have been convicted repeatedly are sent to serve their sentences.
