Russia is incapable of responding to Tomahawk.
The North Atlantic Alliance has not yet observed that Russia is producing new weapons, as dictator Vladimir Putin assured.
A senior NATO official said this, according to RBC-Ukraine.
"As for the reaction to Tomahawk, yes, I believe that we are not seeing any new weapons. The Russians' development has not really included any new weapons - no new weapons have been introduced. We are seeing the normal cycles of testing that Russia has continued as part of its military programs throughout the conflict," he said.
The Alliance official said Russia's response is likely to manifest itself in irresponsible rhetoric with nuclear weapons rattling.
He also suggested that there could be an escalation of the conflict along the entire front line and new strikes on Ukraine as "punishment."
"But I don't think there is any particular, unexpected reaction that the Russians could carry out that would be unpredictable," the NATO spokesman pointed out.
What Putin said
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin earlier said that Russia's response to possible deliveries of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine is "to strengthen air defense."
The Kremlin chief also assured that Russia may announce the appearance of "new types of weapons" in the near future.
Putin said that "successful tests" are already taking place.
