U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence in the possibility of ending Russia's war in Ukraine. He said this at the open portion of a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

"I think it went pretty well. It all started in Alaska. We inherited that from Biden, but we're going to end this war," Trump said.

The Republican added that he was honored to meet "a strong president, a man who's been through a lot." "We're going to talk about what I talked about yesterday with [Vladimir] Putin," Trump clarified.

Meeting Zelensky outside the White House, Trump responded affirmatively to a reporter who asked if he believed he could convince the Russian dictator to resolve the conflict. "Yes, we can," Trump answered him.
