Even The Latest Systems Won't Replace The Skills Of Fighter Pilots

The reason is simple.

Modern fighter jets are equipped with long-range missiles, stealth systems and sensor networks, making close air combat seemingly obsolete. Yet face-to-face aerial combat training remains a key element of pilot training around the world, writes The National Interest (translated by Charter97.org).

The reason is simple, even with long-range missiles it is possible to miss, while electronic jamming, difficult terrain and strict rules of engagement can force a pilot into close combat. At such times, survival depends solely on the pilot's skill in controlling power, angles of attack, and timing of maneuvers.

Mid-combat skills form instinctive reactions that help the pilot take advantageous positions behind the enemy's back, control speed and altitude, and make instant decisions under up to several G's of stress.

The goal of training is not just to memorize maneuvers, but to develop strategic thinking - managing chaos, anticipating the enemy's position, and making instant decisions in critical situations.

Although the classroom is a critical part of the training process. Therefore, training remains an important part of pilot training and the last "insurance" in case of a critical situation.
