Riga believes that Moscow is not ready for the peace process.
Latvia sees no possibility of issuing a permit for Putin's plane to fly through its airspace to Budapest for a possible meeting with US leader Donald Trump. The Latvian Foreign Ministry told the Latvian news agency LETA.
The Foreign Ministry said Latvia supports Trump's efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but at the moment, according to the diplomatic ministry, there are no signs of Moscow's readiness for a constructive peace process.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski earlier did not rule out that if Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin uses Polish airspace on his way to Budapest, the plane with him could be forced to land.
