Ukraine expects to receive the first Swedish Gripen fighter jets as early as next year.

This was announced by President Vladimir Zelensky in Telegram. According to him, together with Sweden, Ukraine will significantly increase its combat aviation.

"This is an ambitious task, and it must be accomplished. Now a historic step is the agreement with Sweden on Gripen combat aircraft, and it is a good choice. We are counting on 150 such planes for Ukraine, and the first ones should appear next year," the head of state noted.

The President also emphasized that Gripen for Ukraine is a part of security guarantees.

"Such Air Force, which will be able to protect our skies one hundred percent. And there has never been such a large-scale agreement on combat aviation for Ukraine. It's a historic achievement. We are working to fully realize it," Zelensky added.
