Earlier, the former German chancellor accused Warsaw and the Baltic states of Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski reacted to Angela Merkel's latest interview in which she linked Warsaw and the Baltic states' resistance to direct contact with Vladimir Putin and his decision to invade Ukraine in 2022.
According to Polsat News
Merkel said in a recent interview that she wanted to organize European Union talks with Putin in 2021 along with Emmanuel Macron, but the Baltic states and Poland opposed it.
German ex-chancellor Radoslav Sikorski was asked to comment on the remarks during a press conference after meeting with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
In his view, it is "as true as what she said in her memoirs that no one from Central Europe protested against Nord Stream."
"Look at the German government's reaction to what I said in 2007 about how we don't like deals made over our heads, so apparently Mrs. Chancellor has forgotten how her own government reacted to our protests," he added.
