The AFU Hit A Key Facility Of Russia's Military-industrial Complex

This plant is the only producer of octogenes and hexogenes on an industrial scale.

The AFU General Staff reported on Monday, October 6, the defeat of one of the key facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex, the Y.M. Sverdlov plant, located near the town of Dzerzhinskoye in Nizhny Novgorod Region, 750 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. Analysts at Defense Express described why this is an important target for the AFU.

It is noted that the successful strike on the plant was carried out despite the fairly strong air defense of the facility. Analysts assume that long-range drones were used for the attack.

Analysts added that before that the Ukrainian military had successfully attacked a supplier of raw materials to the Sverdlov plant - the Sibur-Kstovo oil refinery. This time, the AFU General Staff has already reported an attack on the direct producer of explosives.

The experts explained that the Sverdlov Plant can be objectively considered the No. 1 target and one of the key facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex, because it is the largest producer of explosives in Russia. In addition, according to Russian declarations, it is the only producer of octogenes and hexogenes in the country, at least on an industrial scale.

Analysts add that these explosives are used to build the absolute majority of the known nomenclature of Russian ammunition of all kinds, from artillery shells to ballistic missiles.

What's more, next to this plant, just 4 kilometers away, is "53 Arsenal", which is engaged in equipping aerial bombs, including FAB-3000 and artillery shells.

The publication added that the enterprise was founded in 1916 and its development took place in Soviet times. Therefore, according to analysts, it is impossible to call such a target easy to hit, because all production and logistics processes are maximally separated and collapsed. It is explained that this was done intentionally in order to prevent large-scale detonation and destruction.

Therefore, the publication summarized, attacks on the "Sverdlov Plant" require not only appropriate means, and long-range drones can hardly be called an ideal choice because of their small combat power, but also their number, as well as the methodicality of the strikes themselves.
