They will be driven to the checkpoint "Kotlovka".
More than 1,100 trucks of Lithuanian carriers have accumulated in Belarus. Now they are mainly on the approach to the previously fully operational checkpoints "Kamenny Log" and "Beniakoni. However, the Belarusian side "decided to move them to specially equipped parking places" near the checkpoint "Kotlovka." The neighboring Lithuanian border crossing "Lavoriškės" has been closed since March 2024.
"For humanitarian reasons, the drivers have been given the opportunity to leave the territory of Belarus to their places of permanent residence until the Lithuanian side makes a decision on the full-scale resumption of the border. We are ready to provide the necessary assistance to those drivers who, for one reason or another, cannot leave the territory of Belarus," reads the statement of the Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry believes that "all the additional costs of trucking companies, senders and receivers of goods in Lithuania, other European Union countries and beyond are caused solely by ill-considered, voluntaristic and politicized actions of the Lithuanian authorities.
"At the same time, Belarus reserves the right to apply to these vehicles all the stipulated measures. - from the Belarusian side is Beniakoni to release the Lithuanian trucks. In response, Lithuania is considering limiting the transportation of Belarusian goods by rail, reported the Lithuanian edition of LRT.
