Trump Pardons Associates Who Tried To Disrupt 2020 Election
Donald Trump

Dozens of Republican activists are on the list.

US President Donald Trump has signed a document pardoning a number of his associates who helped him disrupt the 2020 presidential election. Among them are former advisers, lawyers and Republican Party figures.

The document was published by Justice Department pardons attorney Ed Martin. From it, we know that Trump has granted "full, absolute and unconditional" pardons to people who played a role in trying to overturn the vote. Among them:

- Rudy Giuliani, the White House chief of staff's personal lawyer who helped pressure state legislatures to reject Joe Biden's victory;

- Mark Meadows, Trump's 2020 White House chief of staff;

- John Eastman and Kenneth Chesebro, lawyers;

- Boris Epstein, a longtime Trump adviser;

- Sidney Powell, a lawyer.

Besides his closest advisers, the US president also pardoned dozens of Republican activists who signed documents falsely claiming their voting status. Some of them were indicted in other states, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada, where investigations into attempts to influence the outcome of the 2020 election are ongoing.

The pardons are symbolic, as none of the people listed in the document have been charged with federal offenses. Also, the document is undated, so the exact date of the signing remains unknown.
