Belgium has created a far-right French-speaking party TRUMP, named after US President Donald Trump. The party's ideology is based on the views of the American leader.
It is reported BRUZZ.
The party was founded by the former head of the Belgian National Front (NF) Salvatore Nicotra. According to him, the name TRUMP is an acronym for Tous Réunis pour l'Union des Mouvements Populistes ("All United for the Union of Populist Movements"). The politician explicitly links the party's brand to Trump's image.
"Donald Trump is the ultimate symbol of populism. He immediately embodies what we stand for," Nicotra said.
The party positions itself as a right-wing populist party with a "social bent" and plans to run in federal elections as well as European Parliament elections in 2029. Unlike the country's largest far-right force, Vlaams Belang, TRUMP does not advocate splitting Belgium.
Nikotra, who was a municipal councillor for the Brussels borough of Saint-Gilles between 1994 and 2000, does not rule out also running in elections in the capital or at the local level.
The co-founders include several former NF members, including Emanuele Licari, who was previously expelled from Vlaams Belang's lists for glorifying fascism.
The party is scheduled to be officially launched on November 30.
