The politicians took the oath of office in the Sejm.
On Tuesday, November 11, the Lithuanian Seimas swore in Vaida Aleknaviciene, who has been appointed Minister of Culture, and Robertas Kaunas, who will head the Defense Ministry.
The LRT writes about it.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda signed a decree on Monday, November 10, appointing both Social Democratic Party candidates as ministers.
The next day, November 11, Aleknaviciene and Kaunas took the oath of office at the Lithuanian Seimas.
Later that day, an official ceremony to mark the change of minister will be held at the Defense Ministry, where Dovile Šakaliene, who previously headed the defense ministry, will hand over the ministry's flag to Kaunas and present him with the regalia of power.
Reminder, on November 7, the Social Democratic
Party of Lithuania decided to nominate Seimas deputy Vaida Aleknaviciene for the post of culture minister, which has been vacant for a long time.
Aleknaviciene has already been nominated to head the Lithuanian Culture Ministry. She even received the endorsement of President Gitanas Nauseda, but resigned before taking the oath of office after the Social Democrats agreed to hand over the ministry to the Zarya Neman party.
Her nominee Ignatas Adomavicius lasted only a week in office and was publicly criticized.
A Kaunas was appointed after Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė sent Šakaliene to resign on October 23. The reason was accumulated conflicts between officials.
