Polish President Awards Andrzej Poczobut With The Order Of The White Eagle

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has awarded Belarusian journalist, leader of the Polish diaspora in Belarus Andrzej Poczobut with the Order of the White Eagle. It happened today, November 11, on the Independence Day of Poland.
"The Order of the White Eagle was awarded to Andrzej Poczobut in recognition of his outstanding services to Poles in Belarus, in particular for the struggle for human rights and unyielding position in opposing the manifestations of resurgent totalitarian regimes. The order will be presented to him in the nearest possible time," said Karol Nawrocki.
The Order of the White Eagle is the highest state award of Poland, one of the oldest Polish orders.
As the site Charter97. org wrote.org, on October 22, Andrzej Poczobut received the Sakharov Prize.
The journalist and leader of the Union of Poles of Belarus, liquidated by the authorities, Andrzej Poczobut was detained in 2021. In February 2023, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison on articles on incitement of hatred and calls for actions against national security (Articles 130 and 361 of the Criminal Code). In 2024 Andrzej Poczobut became an honorary citizen of Warsaw.
