About 80 people.
The administration of US President Donald Trump is preparing to deport several dozen Ukrainians from the country as early as Monday, November 17. This is evidenced by a published order of the US Department of Justice, writes Washington Post on Friday, November 14.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanyshina confirmed to the publication that the US plans to evict about 80 Ukrainian citizens "due to violations of the law." She noted that U.S. authorities are working on logistical arrangements to carry out the deportation, given the lack of direct air service to Ukraine.
"It should be noted that deportation is a widely used legal mechanism provided for in the immigration laws of most countries in the world. It is a routine procedure applied to all foreign citizens and stateless persons who violate the conditions of stay in the United States, regardless of their nationality," Stefanyshyna said.
An adviser to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on the plans to deport Ukrainians on condition of anonymity.
"The United States can deport as many people as it wants. We will find a good use for them," he said.
