It's part of a disinformation campaign.
Russian propaganda continues its campaign to spread disinformation about "NATO countries preparing to attack Russia."
The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) reports that.
Russian media are actively replicating an interview with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, where he claims that "NATO is practicing the scenario of blocking the Kaliningrad region at the exercises" at the same time as "pumping the region with forces and means."
This is a typical Kremlin manipulation, the CPD argues, as measures to strengthen the defense of NATO countries in response to numerous Russian provocations and threats of force against the Baltic states, Poland, Finland and other Alliance members,
"By spreading such manipulations, the Kremlin is trying to justify Russia's aggressive policy, to create an illusion of "Western threat" and a feeling of "surrounded fortress" among the Russians," the analysts of the Center for Strategic Studies explain.
The Center is convinced that the real purpose of this propaganda is to further militarize Russia and justify a possible war with NATO countries.
