The city is also home to a strategic airfield.

On the night of December 7, attack drones attacked the Russian town of Engels in the Saratov region, which is home to one of the airfields from which Russian fighter jets and bombers take off to attack Ukraine with missiles.

Locals claim that UAVs hit a local oil depot, the telegram channel "Exilenova+" writes.

"Engels, Saratov region, locals report that an oil depot is on fire," reads the caption to the video, which captures the moment of the drone attack.

Before this, Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin warned of the UAV threat to the region.

"Locally, in places of possible threat, warning systems can work. All emergency services have been put on full alert," Busargin wrote.

But after the drones hit Engels, Busargin did not make any new statements.

At the time of publication of this material, the Ukrainian side also did not comment on the drone attacks on the Saratov region.
