Peter Paul called for a tougher response to the Kremlin's provocations.
Czech President Petr Pavel has not ruled out that in the future Europe will react more harshly to Russian provocations and may one day go for shooting down a Russian drone or airplane.
The Czech president said this in an interview with The Sunday Times.
Pavel noted that the indecisiveness of Western leaders will manifest itself, in particular, in an inappropriate response to airspace violations by Russian drones and airplanes.
He said Moscow sees these gaps in European security and takes advantage of them.
The Czech president is convinced that NATO has good reason to fight back much harder than it has so far.
"I believe that if these violations continue, there will come a moment when we will have to use tougher measures, including possibly shooting down a Russian plane or drone. Russia would not allow its airspace to be violated again. And we should do the same," he emphasized.
Pavel added that these violations are deliberate, well-planned and aimed at achieving several goals.
"One of them is to demonstrate that Russia can do it. Another is to test our air defense system. But it is also a test of our determination to act in self-defense," he added.
The media previously wrote that amid incidents with Russian drones violating the airspace of NATO countries, Europe is thinking about what kind of active response can be given to Russia's hybrid actions.
