A state of emergency is being declared throughout Lithuania due to the discovery of smuggled balloons from Belarus, which pose a threat to the country's national security interests, writes LRT.
As the crisis with smuggled weather balloons from Belarus continues, the Lithuanian government has declared a state of emergency throughout the country.
Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratov has been appointed as the head of the state's emergency actions He believes this is not spontaneous activity, but an element of a broader strategy. And the blocking of Lithuanian trucks in Belarus also fits into the logic of a hybrid attack.
According to him, this way they cause panic in the Lithuanian society and "try to get something out of it" at the expense of logistics companies. The head of the Lithuanian Interior Ministry believes that "this is a common cheating, which has nothing to do with the practice of power of a democratic state."
He also said that Lithuania has already selected three companies to develop a prototype system that will allow to neutralize smuggled weather probes at an altitude of 10 kilometers.
