For the second time.
US President Donald Trump described Crimea as an area "surrounded by ocean on all four sides" for the second time since the summer and again called the peninsula "huge."
This time he spoke about Crimea in an interview with Politico. "You know, I'm a realtor at heart, right? I'm very good at real estate. Every time I look at this map, I'm like, 'Oh, Crimea is so beautiful. Wow. It's surrounded by ocean on all four sides. It only has a little bit of land to get to the main part. I mean, Crimea is huge," Trump said.
In August, the US president had already made a similar caveat when, during a conversation with journalists, he compared Crimea's size to the US state of Texas, exaggerating its area many times over. According to him then, Crimea is an area "the size of Texas or something like that, in the middle of the ocean, and it's gorgeous." In fact, the area of Texas exceeds 695,000 square kilometers, while the area of Crimea is about 27,000 square kilometers, meaning the American state is about 26 times larger than the peninsula.
