Belarus is on the 4th place in the world in terms of the number of imprisoned journalists, according to the final report of the human rights organization "Reporters Without Borders" for 2025.
According to the organization, 33 media representatives are imprisoned in Belarus (the Belarusian Association of Journalists says about 28).
On December 1, 503 journalists were in captivity in 47 countries. China (121), Russia (48) and Myanmar (47) are among the top three "journalist prison countries."
Reporters Without Borders notes that the situation in Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Belarus is "a clear illustration of the serious danger to press freedom in the countries of the former Soviet Union."
It is noted that 67 journalists will die worldwide in 2025. Of these, at least 53 were victims of war or organized crime.
