Five organizations also came under the restrictions.
The United Kingdom has included in the sanctions list the ideologist of the "Russian world", propagandist Alexander Dugin and a former employee of the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry Mikhail Zvinchuk. In addition, five organizations fell under the restrictions. They are the Center for Geopolitical Expertise founded by Dugin, Zvinchuk's Rybar project together with the Telegram channel of the same name, the Fund for the Protection and Support of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo, and the Russian-language media projects Golos and Euromore based in Belgium.
The justification states that Dugin and Zvinchuk are involved in destabilizing Ukraine by supporting or promoting actions that threaten its territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence. "Rybar", commenting on London's argumentation, wrote: "Noticed after 4 years of SWO". At the same time, the channel's authors expressed confidence that the real reason for the sanctions is the work of the project team "against the destructive influence of the UK in Russia and the world." Dugin did not comment on the blacklisting of London. The sanctions imply a ban on entering the country and blocking of assets, if discovered.
Dugin is known as one of the leaders of "Eurasianism" - an ideological current that implies Russia's opposition to the Western world. He is also called the ideologue of the "Russian world," whose opinion is listened to by President Vladimir Putin, many security forces and Kremlin officials. The philosopher actively supports the war in Ukraine, opposing a peace agreement without a victory on the battlefield, and is under EU and US sanctions.
"Rybar" is involved in covering the war in Ukraine and Kremlin propaganda. In 2024, the State Department accused the project of interfering in U.S. elections, fomenting partisan and racial discord in the U.S. and set a $10 million reward for information about its staff. Zvinchuk is also a member of the working group on mobilization and social support for war veterans created by Putin.
