A Gulfstream C-37B business jet belonging to the US Air Force has landed in Moscow. According to Flightradar24, the aircraft left Camp Springs, Maryland, where Andrews Air Force Base is located, then made an intermediate stop in Rotterdam before heading to Russia, The Moscow Times reports.
At the moment, there is no official information about the purpose of the aircraft's visit. However, two days before that, on 11 February, another American business jet Gulfstream G650ER arrived in Moscow. US President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Whitkoff, was on board. On the same day, the White House announced the release of American citizen Marc Vogel, who was previously sentenced to 14 years in prison in Russia.
The Donald Trump administration said that Fogel's release was a ‘show of goodwill’ on Moscow's part and a positive signal in the context of a possible settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
In return, the United States released Russian Aleksandr Vinnik, co-founder of the crypto exchange BTC-e, whom Washington accused of money laundering for $4 to $9 billion. In the evening of 13 February, Vinnik arrived in Turkey, from where he was sent to Russia by another flight.
Donald Trump, commenting on Fogel's release, said that another American citizen would soon be returned to his homeland. However, he did not name this person.
