Kremlin Puts Forward New Condition For Signing Peace Agreement With Ukraine
Sergey Lavrov

It was voiced by Lavrov.

Russia has said that President Vladimir Zelensky is "illegitimate". The Kremlin says Ukraine will need to hold elections before signing a peace agreement.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov has said this.

Lavrov said that before signing a peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow, the "best option" for Ukraine would be "to hold elections".

"We will look at who has legitimacy from the Ukrainian government. The current constitution (of Ukraine, - ed.) seems to allow us to talk about the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, but the best option would be to hold elections," the head of the agency said.

He also added that, according to the position of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Zelensky allegedly "does not have legitimacy."
