The UAV symbolizes the formation of a new "axis of evil."
The Shahed-136 strike drone, renamed Geran by Russia, which was originally developed in Iran, fitted with components from China and assembled in Russia using North Korean labor - sounds as ominous as it looks in reality, writes The Times.
The international cooperation behind this UAV is said to symbolize the formation of a new "axis of evil" united by a common hostility to the West. Especially since China's Foreign Minister recently allegedly told the EU's top diplomat that Beijing is interested in continuing the war in Ukraine to prevent the US from focusing entirely on China.
The media writes that this statement coincides with the fact that the Shahed's four-cylinder engine is manufactured by the Chinese company Xiamen Limbach, while its transmitters, signal generators and converters are made by the Beijing Institute of Microelectronic Technology.
What else is known about Russia's use of Shaheds
These slow but extremely destructive drones have played an important role in intensifying Russian attacks. On Friday, just hours after a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin launched the largest single drone and missile strike on Ukraine since the war began.
Russia launched an average of 350 Shaheds per month last summer. Last month, there were 5,438 launches.
The coalition of reckoning formed by China, Russia, Iran and North Korea debunks the idea that the U.S. could simply "switch" from Ukraine to Taiwan. These situations are inextricably linked, the piece says. Therefore, Washington should take into account the links between the military-industrial complexes of its adversaries and remember that in 21st century warfare, almost nothing happens in isolation.
