Trump Talked To Lukashenko

The conversation was about the release of political prisoners.

US President Donald Trump described his conversation with Lukashenko on the social media network Truth Social:

- The purpose of the call is to thank him for the release of 16 prisoners. We are also discussing the possibility of releasing another 1,300 prisoners. The conversation went very well. We touched on many topics, including President Putin's visit to Alaska.

At the end of the conversation, Trump said he "looks forward to meeting with Lukashenko in the future."

Last time Lukashenko spoke to U.S. officials was June 21. He and Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg conducted talks that lasted 6.5 hours.

After the conversation, which the media called "tough," Lukashenko released 14 political prisoners.
