One of the parties will run out of supplies to keep it going.
The war in Ukraine will end the same way the First World War once ended, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski suggested in an interview with CNN. He recalled that the fighting then ended when one side exhausted all resources to continue the war.
"The current war is likely to end in the same way as World War I. One side or the other will exhaust the resources to continue it," the Polish minister said.
The First World War ended in November 1918 with the signing of the Armistice of Compiègne. One of the key factors in the defeat of the Central Powers (the German Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria) was the complete exhaustion of their resources. Germany found itself in a situation where military stores were empty, and the naval blockade of the Entente countries deprived the country of access to raw materials and food.
