Students proclaimed 17th day of month Day of «Hare»

Activists of youth opposition proclaimed 17th day of each month to be the Day of Hare (or deadhead). The initiators are the young people, who participated in numerous actions of protest against repeal of traffic benefits for students.

The last such action was held in Minsk on 17 December. About 150 people formed a human chain from the shopping center “Na Nyamige” to the cafe “MaxiBis.” They had hats in their hands and papers “Help for traffic payment,” “I ask only for a slice of bread...” “Two tickets is bottle of kefir!” and others. After a while policemen came up to them and asked to disperse. The participants agreed, but when they took a trolleybus, they put on hare ears, took carrots out of pockets and travelled some time in such a way.

According to the action participants, 17th day of each month should become a symbolic day of social protest against unfair law on improvement of benefits for students. Students will deadhead on that day and use other forms of demonstration of their discontent, BelaPAN reports.

The law “On State Social Benefits, Rights and Guarantees for Certain Categories of People” came into force since 17 December.
