Justice Ministry refused to register Kalyakin’s “Horizontal”

For the second time the Justice Ministry of Belarus has denied registration to the public association “Horizontal” the oppositional leaders tried to found.

As the Justice Ministry explained, officials suspected that signatures of some founders were false. Besides, some founders gave incomplete information about themselves, “Telegraph” informs.

On January 20 at the foundation meeting in Minsk 85 its participants elected 13 members of the Council of the public association “Horizontal”. Among them are Syarhei Kalyakin (the chairman of the Council), Alyaksandr Bukhvostau, Alyaksei Eliseeu, Alena Skryhan, Valery Ukhnalyou, Syarhei Vaznyak and some other public leaders.

The founders strongly object the decision of the Justice Ministry and find the claim unsubstantiated. The first denial for registration was appealed against in the Supreme Court, but it was supported there.

“It looks as we will go to the court again. And after that we are to hold the foundation meeting once again. If it is not enough for the Justice Ministry to have written confirmations of founders that the signatures are valid, we shall record signatures by a notary,” said one of the organisers of the “Horizontal” Alena Skryhan.
