Lukashenka: “I don’t trade friendship with Russians”

Alyaksandr Lukashenka had a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and made a number of statements for press.

“We need an additional impact for our union relations,” Lukashenka said. According to him, we can state that the union process is calm, boring and passive.” “There’s a certain misunderstanding between the people of Belarus and Russia. They are waiting for something certain,” he said.

In this connection, reminded about a meeting with Russian president Dmitry Putin this summer in Brest, Lukashenka said the Russian President had suggested a “good variant: take some serious programmes, achievable and clear, and say we can do it”.

Lukashenka noted that it was necessary to work out such a programme till the end of the year, and check out the earlier agreements. The Belarusian ruler thinks these drafts may be offered for consideration of the session of Supreme State Council, which may take place this year.

Besides, Lukashenka said to media: “It is said that Belarus begins to trade: Russia- the est. “I have already said to the West that we don’t trade with anybody. We never trade friendship with the Russians,” he emphasised.

“What do our citizens expect? They expect a coherent and competent economic policy,” head of the Russian government Vladimir Putin said.

According to him, “Russia is ready to review a proposal on closer cooperation and support of the Belarusian financial system. In my view, we should focus our financial and administrative resources on perspective directions,” the head of the Russian government noted. He also said about necessity of a joint conducting of high tech programmes.

Putin expressed his assurance that executive and legislative powers of the two states understand the developing of the union relations.

The Russian prime minister congratulated Lukashenka on the “parliamentary elections”. “According to our estimations, they were held at a high organisational and political level,” Putin said.
