Lukashenka awarded false order

Orders, awarded to Margaret Thatcher, Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Yulia Timoshenko by the Academy of Security, Defence and Law Order (ASDLO), are recognized illegitimate.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation found unlawful existing and activity of the Academy of Security, Defence and Law Order, which was granting awards.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia became interested in activity of the Academy in autumn 2008. Orders ladled out had strong resemblance to state medals.

“The Academy used 73 kinds of awards, similar to state ones, and set itself up for a state institution,” Viktor Potapov told to Life.ru.

The Academy established an Order of Peter the Great, Saint Duke Alexander Nevsky, Great Victory Order, Order of Katherine the Great, Order of Zhukov, Order of Andropov, Order of Mikhailo Lomonosov, and many others. This organization granted academic ranks and academic titles.

The academy was founded in 2000. Appearance of the new organization created many rumours: even Vladimir Putin supported it, because the ASDLO’s president Viktor Shevchenko served in Germany with Vladimir Putin. However, Shevchenko denied this information. another myth is that Mikhail Fradkov patronized the academy.

“It’s false,” Life.ru learnt from the Foreign Intelligence Service, heading by Mikhail Fradkov.

“Neither we nor Mr Fradkov will give any comments on this information. It is just a rumour, there are no documents. If there are no documents proving Mikhail Fradko’v ties with the academy, we will give no comments,” said Sergei Ivanov, head of the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service.

After a long prosecutor’sinvestigation, the case was submitted to the Supreme Court.

“The court session was long. The court agreed with the prosecutor’s office and recognized activity of the academy unlawful. We won’t close it down, it is an affairs of other institutions,” told Pavel Odintsov, chief of the press service of the Supreme Court.

The ASDLO has the right to appeal against the court decision within 10 days. As Life.ru managed to clear out, the academy will definitely appeal against the decision.

Having admitted activity of the academy unlawful, the court deprived all awards granted by the academy of legitimacy. The academy gave awards to Belarusian ruler Alyaksandr Lukashenka, former UK prime minister Margaret Thatcher, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Radovan Karadzic, and many others. Among mebers of the academy were Iosif Kobzon, Aslanbek Aslakhanov, Arkady Volsky, Viktor Gerashchenko. But Zurab Tsereteli hastened to deny his membership in the academy.
