Bans on Belarusian children abroad trips are suspended for a period of Christmas holidays.
Interfax-Zapad has learnt it from the press service of the head of state.
“Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed a decree, suspending restrictions on travels of Belarusian children for recreation purposes to the foreign countries which have not signed international agreements with Belarus from December 20, 2008 to January 20, 2009,” the press service informs.
The head of state adopted this decision by the way of exception taking into account that a number of such agreements is yet to be signed while travels of Belarusian kids to foreign countries have been scheduled with the aid of charity organisations,” the press service informed.
“Parents, guardians, foreign organisations, which handle recreation of Belarusian children, have made a request to permit foreign travels of children during the winter holidays,” the press service noted.
“The decision was also made in response to relevant requests of the European Union and governments of various EU member-states. It is another expression of good will, which testifies to Belarus’ real desire to promote cooperation with partners in a productive way and create an atmosphere of mutual trust,” the president’s press service said.
The decree has a temporary effect and is meant to step up efforts aimed at creating a proper international legal base regarding the recreation of Belarusian children abroad, the press service informs.
