European Commission to support Belarusian emigrants

The European Commission and Estonian Foreign Ministry has guaranteed support to the Congress of new Belarusian Diaspora.

It has been stated in the salutatory greeting of the European Union Commissar on external relations and the European neighborhood policy Benita Ferrero-Valdner sent to the organizers of the Congress, BelaPAN informs.

“I welcome the contribution of your network to the process of the democracy advance in Belarus,” the letter of Benita Ferrero-Valdner emphasizes. The European Commission also says about the importance of work with young generation of Belarusians, including those who are living abroad.

As we have informed, the Congress of the new Belarusian Diaspora of Europe and the US was held on March 1-4 in Tallinn under the aegis of the Foreign Minisrty of Estonia and a group “For Free Belarus!” which works in the Estonian parliament. Delegates from Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, France, Germany and the US have taken part in the Congress, as well as representatives of the Belarusian civil society. The main aim of the meeting was creation of a network of effective interaction between representatives of the young Belarusian expatriate community.
