Ivan Byadko and Ivan Sheha, representatives of the local branch of the Belarusian Popular Front “Adradzhennye”, applied the district executive committee for a picket. It was planned to express protest against bad living conditions, Euroradio reports.
Officials explain the refusal with the fact the applicants wanted to hold the picket in the center of the town, not on the outskirts, the place defined by the authorities for pickets.
The authorities also used “preventive measures” no t to allow holding of this “unauthorised event”. For this purpose, a district militiaman visited Ivan Byadko, and physician Ivan Sheha was called to chief doctor and was offered to discharge voluntary. The activist refused to do this.
