Alyaksandr Yarashuk: Directors of enterprises are consumable material

The system created by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, keeps in awe, trade union leader Alyaksandr Yarashuk commented on replacement of directors of Belaruskali and Belarusian Steel Works.

“The problem is attitude of the authorities to such people, commanders of industry. It stresses that you are nothing, regardless of your management skills, you are just consumable material,” the head of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions told in an interview to Radio Svaboda.

“Andrei Bashura (former director of Belaruskali) was an excellent manager, he was highly respected by his employees and the independent trade union,” Alyaksandr Yarashuk said.

“He was a responsible, honest man, an independent manager. He was resigned in an improper way, he hasn’t deserved it. The last contract he was concluded with him with a mocking notice ‘until a new general director is appointed’,” Telegraf quoted the BCDTU head.

“Anyone can be the next. The system keeps everybody in awe in order everyone to know that he may be dismissed at any moment,” Alyaksandr Yarashuk thinks.

We remind that on October 13, the Belarusian ruler appointed new directors of the two major Belarusian enterprises, Belarusian Steel Works and Belaruskali, and a number of ministers.

Anatoly Savyanok was appointed director general of the Manufacturing Corporation Belarusian Steel Works.

As we have informed, earlier Belarusian Steel Works was headed by Mikalai Andryjanau. On April 16, 2009 Lukashenka attracted attention to the facts of corruption in Homel region. “By my order an inspection of the so-called “hunt” case has been finished in Homel region. Militia chiefs and directors of large enterprises had such a hunt that not a criminal case has been opened. I won’t leap ahead, people will learn about that, but there won’t any mercy to anyone,” the Belarusian ruler said. Soon after that Mikalai Andryjanau took a medical leave, and returned to the plant just to say goodbye to his employees.

Valery Kiryjenka was appointed Belaruskali director general. Earlier the enterprise was headed by Andrei Bashura.

In January this year, the office of Prosecutor General initiated criminal cases one after another against officials of Belaruskali and directors of the partner enterprises of the industrial giant. The office of Prosecutor General stated in August that there was doubt an organized criminal group acted at the plant. Its leaders were deputy head of the Economic security service of Belaruskali and two officials of the financial and logistical support department. Besides, directors and deputy directors of “BelRosMash” and “Elektromashina” joint stock companies were members of the group. According to investigators, the organized criminal group consisted of 7 persons.
