Alyaksandr Atroshchankau: “Riot militiamen were hitting demonstrators’ kidneys, legs and backbones with their fists and feet”

The activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” told how riot militiamen were beating participants of a solidarity action in Minsk.

“Riot militia uses an extremely mean and cynical policy during these dispersals. One can think that participants of the action were just being pushed out of the city center, but in real fact, riot militiamen were beating us cruelly. Riot militiamen were hitting demonstrators’ kidneys, legs and backbones with their fists and feet. Those who fell down to the ground, among them girls, were kicked, some people have serious injures. But the riot militiamen should know – journalists take photo and video of all their actions, and these facts will serve as evidence against them, ” activist of the “European Belarus” Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, forced out of the square together with other demonstrators, told the Charter’97 press service.

It should be reminded that Minsk dwellers came to the square on April 16 to demand release of political prisoners.
