New social standards – hot water two times a week

40

The local authorities declared a new saving campaign caused by cutting the republican budget.

Dwellers of Slutsk and Verkhnyadvinsk were the first to feel what real social standards are, Euroradio reports. Information about cutting off hot water was published in a local Slutsk newspaper. Hot water wil be turn on in apartments only two times a week.

Deputy head of the Slutsk district executive committee Alla Rusak says the local authorities try to save some money by these measures.

“This is connected with saving, you know, energy is expensive today. The budget has been cut, the budget expenditure, I mean. You know, saving is a great thing today,” Alla Rusak tells.

Angry local dwellers make collective complaints to the district executive committee to get an opportunity to have a shower. Lyudmila Papchenya, head of the housing and public utilities of the Slutsk district executive committee, says she can only sympathize.

“We receive calls from collectives and individuals. It’s natural: who can like this? It’s hot, people work in gardens, they want to wash,” Papchenya says.

Local dwellers say they are ready to save water, but they want to wash at least in the evening.

“I agree, on should save energy in the day time, but if we had water in the evening it would be better,” Slutsk dweller Valyantsina says.

The Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities don’t care about problems of Slutsk dwellers, as the social standard providing hot water two days a week is observed.

“They save. It’s a decision of the executive committee, of the local authorities. It’s their problems what they are doing,” an officer of the Ministry says.

The district executive committee of Verkhnedvinsk “overfulfils” the social standard. Local dwellers have hot water three times a week. But they are happy, because they didn’t have hot water in summer before.

“There was no hot water in Verkhnedvinsk in summer, a boiler house was being built,” an officer of the Verlhnedvinsk district executive committee tells. “We fulfil social standards, we give water at list two times, even three days a week.”

The only advice to dwellers of district centres is moving to the capital. In this case they will be able to take shower every day, the Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities guarantees.

“they will have hot water if they live in the capital,” an officer of the ministry said.
